Brett Byers joined VCFA in 1998 to start VCFA’s San Francisco office. Mr. Byers has focused primarily on originating, evaluating and negotiating investments for five VCFA funds. With a background in electrical engineering, finance and law, Mr. Byers has managed many of VCFA’s investments in technology and venture capital.

Prior to joining VCFA, Mr. Byers was General Counsel and Vice President, Investor Relations of 8x8, Inc., a publicly traded semiconductor manufacturer. He also served as a corporate and securities attorney with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, California and with the New York office of Mayer, Brown & Platt, serving the venture capital and buyout community.

Mr. Byers began his career as a designer of VLSI semiconductors and computer systems with Raytheon Company’s Missile Systems Division and Kendall Square Research, a massively parallel processor supercomputer maker. He received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Cornell University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
