Edward Hortick joined VCFA in October, 2001, to broaden the senior
leadership of the firm. Mr. Hortick has focused primarily on originating,
evaluating and negotiating new investments as well as general management
responsibilities. Mr. Hortick’s prior responsibilities cover over 25 years
in banking including senior management positions in corporate banking,
senior credit management and direct private equity investments at the Bank
of America, which he joined through the Continental Bank acquisition and
Wachovia, which he joined through the Southeast Bank
acquisition.
Prior to joining VCFA, Mr. Hortick was the President and Managing Director
of Bank of America Capital Corporation (“BACC”), where he had general
management responsibility for the private equity fund investment business
and chaired the BACC investment committee. Under his leadership, BACC’s
proprietary investment portfolio grew to $5 billion, committed to 485 funds
among 275 firms. Mr. Hortick was responsible for the formation of the
private equity fund-of-funds business at Bank of America, with over $100
million committed to management. He was also responsible for initiating and
executing BACC’s highly profitable secondary sale of over $600 million in
private equity limited partnership interests.
Mr. Hortick graduated with a B.S. in finance from The University of Arizona
and received an M.B.A. from The University of Miami. He also completed the
Management Development Program at Emory University. Mr. Hortick is a
Certified Financial Planner, a member of the Financial Planning Association
and has served on several prominent venture capital, buyout and
international fund advisory boards. |
